This mask was created for the feeling we Venetians had on a night in 1996 when our beloved Fenice Opera House caught fired and was completely destroyed. For a second time since its origination, the Fenice, rose from its ashes. As we stood watching the Opera House burn, all Venetian covered their faces from fear of the fire spreading to nearby buildings and for fear to lose the theater for a second time. Therefore, this is a tribute to Fenice and the emotions we felt on this night.

MONDAY'S ORACLE CARD - CLOUDS / SHAPESHIFTING

Today I was considering if I was brave enough to merge my Facebook page onto my personal Facebook page.  Would my old friends understand the new 'me' and did anyone want to see more positive affirmation posts?  I sat and thought about it for a while and then I pulled a card from my favorite oracle deck Earth Magic by Dr. Steven Farmer for the coming week for BoS readers...

Monday's Oracle Card - Clouds / Shapeshifting

In both subtle and more dramatic ways, you can shapeshift by your choice of clothing, hairstyle, adornments, and even mannerisms (such as facial expression, gesture, and the way you walk).  By adjusting these along with internal attitude, you can actually display different personas.

When you experiment with these variations of self-expression that are not how you ordinarily present yourself, others will react to you, depending on the degree in which your persona contrasts with the one they are most familiar with.
Be like the clouds as you try out different form, willing to move and adjust as necessary.

Lift your head up, square your shoulders, and stand tall such that your chest and heart open to the world, and note how this feels.  You may feel vulnerable at first, but stay with it.  Then let your shoulders fall forward slightly, pull your chest inward an inch or two, and let your head drop a little; observe how this feels.

Experiment with contracting your aura (your energy field), then expand it as far as you comfortably can.  By this kind of shapeshifting you can consciously choose your expression into the world.   Just remember who you are at the core.

This pendant is one of a series of unique works I created depicting variations of the Flower of Life pattern.
I handcut this sterling silver and copper Flower of Life pattern using a tiny sawblade, and riveted it together with sterling silver rivets.

The Flower of Life is an ancient geometrical design based around the circle.
It contains ancient, theological value depicting the fundamental forms of space and time. In this sense, it is a visual expression of the connections life weaves through all sentient beings, and it is believed to contain a type of Akashic Record of basic information of all living things
In sacred geometry the circle represents the sphere in 2 dimensions. It is the most universal symbol known to man and the ultimate representation of the unity and inseparability of all things. The Flower of Life pattern uses Pi to create the perfect balancing of spheres with sixfold symmetry. The centre of each circle is on the circumference of the six surrounding circles of the same diameter.

This pendant is 3.5cm in diameter, with a 45cm oxidised sterling silver chain.
It can be worn either way around, with the silver facing forwards (as shown in the first photo) or with the copper facing forwards(as shown in the second photo)

Every piece I create is handmade by me in my workshop by the beach in Wellington, New Zealand. Hand cut metal, riveted and polished, each piece is lovingly handcrafted, making every piece a unique work of art.
